Strong thunderstorms moved down the mountains into the San Diego County valleys and foothills east of Interstate 15 on Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service office in San Diego reported brief, heavy rain, 40 mph gusts and hail.

The heaviest storm was in in the Ramona area, with 1.31 inches falling in Barona, 0.90 inches at Mt. Woodson, and 0.89 inches at the Ramona airport. Surrounding areas reported a quarter inch or less.

Power outages, branches down on streets and minor flooding were reported around Poway.

Thunderstorms are possible again on Monday, but were forecast to occur farther to the east, over the mountains and deserts.
