The Padres unveiled more details Thursday regarding the celebration of life scheduled next month at Petco Park for late owner and chairman Peter Seidler.
The March 23 event will be held at 1 p.m., with broadcaster Don Orsillo serving as master of ceremonies.
The celebration, to be attended by current and former Padres players, team and league executives, family members and local dignitaries, will be open to fans.
Admission will be free, though digital tickets, available starting Feb. 29, will need to be claimed by fans. Parking will be free in neighboring Padres-controlled lots, including the Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Lot and Padres Parkade.
Seidler died Nov. 14 and a series of tributes have followed, including the city’s plans to rechristen a street near the ballpark as “Peter Seidler Way.”
The team also revealed details about the jersey patch honoring Seidler that will be worn by players throughout the 2024 season
The patch features Seidler’s initials “PS” inside a heart. The ciub says Seidler’s children are behind the concept and that the patches will be displayed over players’ hearts on the jerseys.
The first 10,000 fans in attendance at the celebration of life will receive a jersey patch. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The patch also will be sold at the Padres Team Store at Petco Park, with proceeds going to charity. They will benefit the Padres Foundation, as well as the Peter Seidler Legacy Projects for underserved communities in San Diego and northern Baja California.
