More than 250 athletes from throughout California began competing Friday at the CrossFit Regionals competition at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
The athletes participated in a series of high-intensity, strength-based workouts hosted by CrossFit. The competition is just one of eight regional events where athletes vie for a spot at the CrossFit Games in Carson.
The California regional competition runs Friday through Sunday with team and individual rounds.
