With only two candidates, the winner will be declared this month — and not have to wait until a November runoff as other races would.

Myers is the Democratic-endorsed candidate, with Gore counting on Republican support.

In the race for assessor/recorder/county clerk, incumbent Ernie Dronenburg was leading Democratic-endorsed challenger Matt Strabone, 63.6 percent to 36.2 percent, in another race that avoids a November runoff.

San Diego County Treasurer/Tax Collector Dan McAllister was running unopposed.
