Gov. Jerry Brown Wednesday announced the appointment of John B. Scherling to a judgeship on the San Diego Superior Court bench.
Scherling, 56, has been a partner at Sughrue, Mion, PLLC since 2008. He served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of California — which includes San Diego — from 1990 to 2005.
Scherling was an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher from 1986 to 1990. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School and Iowa State University.
Scherling fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Carol Isackson and is registered without party preference.
The annual compensation for the judicial position is $189,041.
