San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer on Thursday will help kick off a weeklong innovation conference in Tijuana drawing tens of thousands of visitors and prominent speakers from across the world.
Faulconer will join Tijuana Mayor Jorge Astiazarán to inaugurate Tijuana Innovadora 2014 at Centro Cultural Tijuana.
In all, 200 innovators in technology, health, education, business, food, fashion and more will appear from San Diego, the United States and Latin America through Oct. 26.
The themes of the conference are:
- Entrepreneurs and leadership
- Innovation and creativity
- Bi-national projects and Mexican diaspora in the United States
Speakers include former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani; Bill Richardson, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations; Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai; Mexican entrepreneur Jorge Vergara; César Millán, of “Dog Whisperer” fame; lucha libre icons Blue Demon and Mil Máscaras; and Adrián Fernández, famed auto racer.
The organizers have set up round-trip transportation from San Diego to the conference venue with expedited border crossing.
