San Diego City Council candidate Chris Cate.

Former San Diego Unified School District Trustee Mitz Lee on Wednesday endorsed Chris Cate, her opponent in the primary election for the District 6 council seat.

Lee, a longtime leader in the Mira Mesa and Filipino community, received 12 percent of the vote and came in third place in the primary after Cate with 47 percent and Carol Kim with 32 percent.

“I am endorsing Chris Cate for city council because I believe he is the best candidate to implement an agenda that will make our neighborhoods a priority and address the growing backlog of neighborhood repairs and service cuts. San Diego needs an economy and neighborhoods that allow residents to thrive and prosper; people need to feel they and their families are safe in our neighborhoods.” said Lee

“I am proud to have earned Mitz Lee’s support for my campaign. Mitz has a long record of community involvement and over two decades of public service. I look forward to working with Mitz to identify and solve the biggest problems facing the neighborhoods of District 6.”

Cate is a former small businessman and policy adviser to Mayor Kevin Faulconer.

District 6 includes Clairemont Mesa, Kearny Mesa, Miramar, Mira Mesa and parts of Rancho Penasquitos.
