The training involving the detonation of 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 explosives is scheduled to continue daily through Friday, according to Pendleton’s public affairs office.

Also on Friday, Marines are scheduled to conduct mortar fire training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away,” base officials said in a statement.
