
San Diego could see light rain and even an afternoon thunderstorm this weekend as a low-pressure system moves south and east across Southern California.
The National Weather Service office in San Diego said Friday that weekend weather will be “cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the morning, then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.”
The chance of measurable precipitation on Saturday is 50%, dropping to 20% on Sunday, but “rainfall amounts will generally be light and decrease from north to south.”
Any rain will be accompanied by by gusty winds of up to 25 mph.
Highs on Saturday will be 61 to 64 near the coast, 63 to 68 inland, 62 to 65 in the western valleys, 56 to 61 near the foothills, 48 to 57 in the mountains, and 71 to 76 in the deserts.
The beaches will see elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet with occasional sets to 7 feet Saturday through Tuesday, peaking Sunday night and Monday.
The weather service forecasts a gradual warming next week with highs near to slightly above normal.
