The city closed the Ocean Beach Pier Monday for a full day of maintenance to the storm-damaged pump station that is needed for restrooms.
The pier was expected to reopen Tuesday and will remain open as work on the pump station continues through the end of the week.
The pier was closed on Jan. 6 after a heavy winter storm, then reopened July 1 for the Independence Day holiday.
While storms caused damage to the pier’s railings and pump station, the pier itself remained structurally safe.
The restrooms will remain closed until the pump station repairs are finished, according to the city.
The city is planning a major renovation and possible replacement of the popular but aging pier.
