Looking for a great dog to call your own? Saint Barts is pet of the week at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. He’s a 1-1/2 year old, 71-pound, male, Australian Shepherd mix.
Saint Barts was transferred from another shelter through the Friends of County Animal Shelters program. He’s a bit timid, but will do almost anything if you’ll scratch him on his side. His new family will want to give him lots of attention and positive reinforcement to help him feel more at ease in his brave new world.
Aussies have an irresistible impulse to herd anything from birds to dogs to kids. Because of his strong work drive, Saint Barts is not a good match for a couch potato owner. He’s super smart and very capable of tricking an inexperienced owner into doing what he wants them to do. If you’re looking for a brainy, tireless dog who wants to work out his energy then cuddle, you might want to meet Saint Barts.
