The winter heat wave will continue on Tuesday with record highs possible for much of San Diego County.

“A strong ridge and a dry air mass will allow temperatures to heat up again on Tuesday,” the National Weather Service office in San Diego said, adding that numerous locales will see highs “at to slightly above daily records.”

The forecast for San Diego calls for a sunny day with highs of 78 to 83 near the coast to 88 inland with light winds. Highs in the inland valleys of San Diego County could reach into the low 90s. Lows overnight will be in the 50s.

Meteorologists expect a slow cooling as the week progresses.
