Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday the state will lift its indoor mask-wearing requirement for vaccinated people on Feb. 15, but will remain in effect for unvaccinated people.
The state’s move means the requirement will be lifted in San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties, pointing to decreasing Omicron variant cases.
Case rates have decreased by 65% since the Omicron peak, according to public health officials.
The move will have no immediate impact in Los Angeles County, which has a local indoor mask-wearing requirement in place.
