Police are investigating the death of a 37-year-old man who was struck and killed while walking across a street in Otay Mesa West, authorities said Saturday.
San Diego Police were called at 6:58 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Del Sol Boulevard and Kostner Drive where a 77-year-old woman driving a 2010 Toyota Rav4 allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the victim, Officer Jose Perales said.
The victim sustained severe head trauma and was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Perales said.
It was determined that DUI was not a factor in the collision. police said.
The department’s Traffic Division is investigating the collision and anyone with information related to it was asked to call 858-495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
