Authorities have publicly identified a 35-year-old man who died last weekend in a motorcycle crash involving a suspected DUI driver on a Ridgeview/Webster-area thoroughfare.
Derek Grover II of San Diego was riding his 2021 Harley-Davidson southbound on Euclid Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a northbound 2000 GMC Sierra made a left turn directly in his path at Lyon Street, just north of State Route 94, according to police and the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The resulting collision sent Grover tumbling onto the roadway. Paramedics took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The 58-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of DUI. His name has not been released.
