A utility crew secured a half-inch gas line after it broke Thursday on a street in the Middletown neighborhood, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

SDFD responded to the gas leak at 3412 Ibis St., which was first reported just before 2:30 p.m., with units arriving at 2:34 p.m.

A San Diego Gas & Electric crew then secured the line, an SDFD official said.

There were no reported injuries or any need for an evacuation, according to SDFD. The cause of the gas line leak was unknown.
