A man was shot in the leg when he intervened in a fight in the East Village neighborhood, authorities said Sunday.

The shooting took place around 4:50 a.m. Sunday near Park Boulevard and Broadway, when the man approached a group of people fighting and intervened, according to the San Diego Police Department. He was subsequently shot in the leg and the suspects fled the area, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where his condition was unavailable. The suspects were still at large, with no available descriptions, police officials told City News Service.
