A drive-by shooting in El Cerrito Wednesday evening left three people hospitalized, including a security guard.

San Diego Police responded at 8:28 p.m. to the 5400 block of University Avenue where they learned a group of male pedestrians had been arguing with people inside a black vehicle, according to Officer Robert Heims.

The vehicle left the scene and the pedestrians ran to a nearby business to get help. The vehicle then returned and someone inside the car fired several rounds at the pedestrians, hitting and wounding two of them and a security guard, Heims said.

The victims were taken to a hospital with non-threatening injuries. The vehicle left the scene.

Gang unit detectives are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call 619- 531-2847 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
