A 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound early Sunday after a party at a Carlsbad resort, police said.

Police received reports of shots fired at 2:12 a.m. Sunday at the MarBrisa Carlsbad Resort on MarBrisa Circle, according to Jodee Reyes, public information officer for the Carlsbad Police Department.

Fire department medics provided medical aid to the man and took him to a hospital. Officials listed him in stable condition Sunday morning, Reyes said.

Investigators interviewed several witnesses and collected evidence.

Officers arrested Bernardo Vazquez, 19, from Mississippi, on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, a misdemeanor. They booked him into the Vista Detention Facility, according to online records, which list him as being held on $15,000 bail.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
