Flames spread through a home under construction in Valencia Park Tuesday afternoon, causing an estimated $320,000 in property damage, but nobody was hurt.

Three squatters fled the unfinished single-story home when the blaze erupted in the 5100 block of Groveland Drive about 12:20 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

It took crews about 15 minutes to douse the flames.

The cause of the fire, which resulted in about $300,000 in damage to the structure and destroyed roughly $20,000 worth of items inside it, was under investigation, officials said.

San Diego Gas & Electric personnel were called due to downed wires at the fire scene.
