A 46-year-old man armed with a replica gun was arrested after trying to carjack an Amazon truck that was stopped at a red light in the Midway District of San Diego.
The Amazon truck was stopped at the red light a little before 6:25 p.m. Saturday at Sports Arena Boulevard and Hancock Street when the man walked up to the passenger side of the truck, pointed a gun at the driver and tried to open the door, according to San Diego Police officer Robert Heims.
The Amazon driver drove away, then stopped at the Heritage Inn, 3333 Channel Way, and called police to report there was a man walking around with a gun, Heims said.
Police set up a perimeter and the suspect, later identified as Miguel Gonzalez, was taken into custody.
“A gun was found and upon further investigation, it was not real,” Heims said.
