A woman who witnessed the accident said the bicyclist “came out of nowhere” and was struck by the pickup, which was headed north on Beyer Boulevard near Carnell Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, and carried along with his bike for about 60 feet.
She described the victim as being in his 50s or 60s, and said that people in the area cared for the injured man until first responders could arrive.
The driver of the truck cooperated fully with police. The victim was transported to UCSD Medical Center.
