Eight people were arrested on suspicion of alcohol impairment at a San Diego Police DUI checkpoint on Saturday night.
The checkpoint was conducted by traffic division officers at 1500 Fifth Avenue in the Cortez Hill neighborhood in downtown San Diego between 10:55 p.m. Saturday and 3:05 a.m. Sunday.
A total of 965 vehicles went through the checkpoint and 579 vehicles were screened, police said. Sixteen drivers were evaluated. Four citations were issued and eight vehicles were impounded.
The Chula Vista Police Department assisted in the operation.
San Diego police said they will conduct another DUI checkpoint on Thursday.
