Authorities Tuesday asked for the public’s help to identify and locate a masked man who robbed a Spring Valley convenience store at gunpoint late last month.
The previously undisclosed robbery occurred about 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 30 at the 7-Eleven at 2840 Bancroft Drive, San Diego County Sheriff’s detective Daniel Gutierrez said.
The black-clad gunman ordered two employees to hand over cash from the register and the money from one of the clerks’ wallet, Gutierrez said. Both employees were compliant with the demands and the robber fled on foot from the store in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The sheriff’s office and San Diego County Crime Stoppers released photographs of the suspect showing him wearing a black hoodie or windbreaker- type jacket with reflective material lining the zippers. He wore his hood over his head and pulled down low with a black mask covering his face.
The roughly 6-foot-2-inch and 180 pound gunman of unknown race also wore black pants, black shoes and light colored work gloves with black material on the palms. A light was mounted on his black pistol, possibly being held on with rubber bands.
Crime Stoppers offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information was asked to call the Rancho San Diego sheriff’s substation at (619) 660-7090. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580- 8477 or online at sdcrimestoppers.org.
