A woman who went missing last weekend during what was supposed to be a quick trip to pick up her children from a Mission Valley church was found Wednesday in Tijuana.

Crystal Chappell, 40, was last seen by family members about 11:30 a.m. Sunday as she was leaving a plasma donation center in the Sports Arena area en route to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Camino del Rio South, a roughly eight-mile trip, according to San Diego Police.

Chappell never showed up at the Mormon house of worship, and her husband, Jonathan, has told reporters he believed his wife likely fell victim to some sort of crime.

Police said she was located after a concerned citizen called to report seeing her sitting alone on a street in downtown Tijuana. Mexican authorities confirmed Chappell is medically fine and will take her to the border.

It was not immediately clear why she went to Mexico.

Chappell suffers from health conditions that require her to take medications, but she did not have them with her when she went missing, Luna said.
