A hit-and-run collision in University City left a bicyclist seriously injured Thursday and a DUI suspect under arrest, authorities said.
The 44-year-old victim was riding north in the 6500 block of La Jolla Colony Drive at about 6:30 a.m., when a 2008 Honda Accord driven by Heejoon Lee, 29, hit him from behind, San Diego police said.
Lee continued driving for a short distance before losing control of the car, which veered off the street and crashed to a halt into some shrubbery, Officer Tony Martinez said.
Officers arrested Lee on suspicion of drunken driving and felony hit-and- run.
Medics took the bicyclist to a hospital for treatment of fractures to his ribs, pelvis and spine, Martinez said.
