An 80-year-old woman suffered a life-threatening injury Wednesday when a vehicle hit the shopping cart she was pushing outside a Home Depot store in Egger Highlands, police said.
The parking lot accident in the 500 block of Saturn Boulevard occurred about 12:15 p.m., according to San Diego police.
The impact of the collision knocked the victim down, causing her to strike her head on the pavement. Medics took her to a hospital for treatment of severe head trauma that could prove fatal, Officer John Buttle said. Her name was not immediately released.
It was unclear if the 55-year-old driver might be cited in connection with the crash.
