Authorities asked the public Thursday for help in identifying a man who has carried out a spree of armed bank robberies in Linda Vista, Clairemont and the Midway area in recent weeks, including two on the same day.

The thief — who appears to be in his 30s — committed the series of heists at a Bank of America on Ulric Street and a US Bank on Genesee Avenue, both on Dec. 21; at a Wells Fargo on Clairemont Drive last Thursday; and at a US Bank on Midway Drive on Sunday, according to San Diego police.

The robber generally was dressed in sunglasses and a hooded sweat shirt during the crimes and threatened tellers with a pistol while demanding cash.

He is described as a roughly 6-foot-tall white man with a tattoo on one of his legs and possibly another on his neck.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
