A pedestrian in the Mountain View area of San Diego was apparently jaywalking at a signal when he was hit by a car, and got a broken leg and a serious head injury, police said.
The 23-year-old man’s name was not released.
Police said he was hit while crossing the intersection of South 43rd Street and National Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, against a “no walking” sign and red light, according to Sgt. Michael Tansey.
The pedestrian was hit by a 2004 Dodge pickup truck being driven by a 76- year-old man, who had been heading northbound on 43rd Street.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the UCSD Medical Center, and was later diagnosed with internal bleeding in his skull, Tansey said.
