A 69-year-old Spring Valley man suspected of possessing child pornography was arrested Friday night and detectives were investigating if anyone was victimized at two grade schools where he worked as a volunteer tutor, authorities said.
An investigation was launched on Oct. 27, when deputies were called to suspect Gary Alan Dallman’s home in the 300 block of Kempton Street because a caregiver found apparent child pornography in the residence, San Diego County Sheriff‘s Lt. Greg Rylaarsdam said.
Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant at Dallman’s home on Wednesday and “identified additional child pornography stored on electronic devices inside the residence,” Rylaarsdam said. “Dallman was a volunteer tutor for the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District at La Presa Middle School and Kempton Elementary School but was immediately released after the district was advised of the investigation.”
Detectives will continue investigating if anyone at either school was victimized, Rylaarsdam said.
Dallman was booked into the San Diego Central Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail, the lieutenant said.
