San Diego County Sheriff‘s deputies doing probation checks discovered a woman who had just given birth to a child at a home in Fallbrook.

The baby girl, estimated at 12 to 15 hours old when found, was born Saturday at a residence in the 500 block of Ammunition Road, according to the sheriff’s department.

The woman — who did not have a doctor or midwife present when she gave birth — recently was arrested for drug-related offenses, department officials said.

The infant and her mother were taken to Palomar Medical Center, authorities said. The newborn’s condition wasn’t released.

The discovery was made during compliance checks for residents on probation.  Five other people were arrested.

Child Protective Services was called to investigate.
