A pursuit of a stolen car in Otay Mesa ended in a crash that left its driver and four other people injured, police said Friday.

Officers following the stolen Toyota Camry on eastbound Palm Avenue saw it pass other vehicles using the bike lane and run a red light at the intersection with Norstad Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said. The car collided with a Ford Freestyle turning at the intersection.

The Ford’s driver and passenger were treated for rib and knee pain, according to the officer.

The Toyota’s driver, a 39-year-old man, suffered fractures to his pelvis and right wrist. A 41-year-old passenger complained of pain to her hips and a 24-year-old passenger suffered a fractured femur and extensive lacerations to his face, Heims said.
