A gunman robbed a North County bank Tuesday, authorities said.
The robber approached a teller at the U.S. Bank branch office in the 2500 block of El Camino Real in Carlsbad about 2:15 p.m., displayed the handgun and demanded cash, according to police.
After the clerk handed over an undisclosed sum, the bandit walked out, got on a bicycle and rode to the east on Haymar Road, Carlsbad Police Lt. Jeff Chapman said.
A witness described seeing a man matching the robber’s description loading a bike into a late-model white SUV near the bank, then getting in the vehicle, which was driven away by a female, the lieutenant said.
