Leopoldo Pacuan was arrested at his San Diego residence just after 8 p.m. Thursday in connection with the May 18 workplace death of Raquel Morales, according to San Diego police Lt. Manuel Del Toro.

Officers found Morales at the LBC Express business office in the 8900 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard just before 2 a.m. May 18, after her husband called police and asked someone to check on his wife because she had failed to return home from work as usual.

A story posted March 13 carried a photo showing Morales as part of an LBC group that helped resupply a Philippines nursing school hit last November by Typhoon Haiyan.

Police did not immediately release a suspected motive or say what, if any, relationship Pacuan had with Morales.

U-T San Diego reported that two had worked together, but cited police as saying Pacuan was on leave from the company.

Her body sustained “obvious trauma,” Del Toro said in a statement.

Pacuan was booked into San Diego Central Jail shortly before midnight on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to online jail records, which showed he would be arraigned Wednesday afternoon.
