At least one person died after a multi-vehicle collision late Friday on Interstate 8 in La Mesa which temporarily shut down all eastbound traffic.

The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of the 8, east of Lake Murray Boulevard, around 10:40 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A SigAlert was issued by the CHP at 11p.m. Friday and all eastbound lanes were reopened at 12:31 a.m., according to the CHP.

The name of the deceased person was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
