San Diego’s Sudberry Properties, which is developing Civita in Mission Valley, has named a new chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Real estate attorney William Mayer will be the new COO and also serve as chief legal officer. He will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the firm, which has developed 10 million square feet of urban retail, multi-family residential, mixed-use and town centers.

Prior to joining Sudberry, Mayer was the vice president and general counsel for D.R. Horton’s West Region.

“We are delighted to have Bill join the Sudberry team,” said Colton Sudberry, president of Sudberry Properties.  “His depth of knowledge in all aspects of real estate and his leadership within the community will be a huge asset as we move foreword in the exceedingly complex world of real estate development.”

In the second executive appointment, John Bogucki was named chief financial officer  with responsibility for day-to-day operation and oversight of the finance, accounting and administration departments. He will also manage all financial aspects of numerous real estate holdings and acquisitions for the firm.

“John brings more than 25 years’ experience in executive financial management and oversight of every aspect of real estate acquisition, development and disposition,” said Sudberry. “His qualifications and strengths dovetail with the future we see for Sudberry Properties.”

Previously, Bogucki held executive positions with several West Coast real estate developers, including California Traditions of San Diego and Silverstar Communities of Reno.
