Fashion Week San Diego will hold its 19th opening night and runway shows the first weekend in October. Expect a high caliber of emerging and established designers, prestigious celebrity brands, and talented top models.
On Sept. 30, The Boardroom will be held at the University Club. This Welcome Soirée for Fashion Week San Diego will feature the board members of the University Club walking the catwalk. A separate ticket is required for this event.

Opening night on Friday, Oct. 2, will be held at the San Diego Automotive Museum in Balboa Park. The evening will introduce Fashion Week San Diego’s new partner, Nouveau Riche, a virtual reality company specializing in crypto and music.
Their music segment, called Pandora Box, will perform at the event. One of the featured performers is a Tony-nominated musician. The audience will have a sneak peek at upcoming designs, with models positioned alongside the museum’s cars. One of Fashion Week San Diego’s designers, Brittany Grisham of Grisham Manor, will be signing her latest book about mermaids and pirates.
The official Runway Night will be at UCSD Park and Market, the arts and culture venue downtown. This exciting evening will be presented in three different segments beginning with Community Night, which will highlight 11 New York avant-garde pieces, including the intricate crochet workmanship of Bliss by Mel. These pieces were shown at Sotheby’s earlier this year in partnership with the Art Renewal Center. The San Diego audience will now have the privilege of viewing them on the runway.
The second segment will feature community partners, including the San Diego Mesa College design winner, Brooke Jones, from the Golden Scissors Fashion Show and Shapes to Form. The retail partners will include Zeglio Custom Clothiers and World Tribe Cashmere.
Shapes to Form will be promoting their youth and arts program, Haute Steam X, scheduled for Nov. 7. This program for students under 18 years of age consists of four classes covering sustainability, photography, sewing, a slow fashion clinic, and experts who come in and share their experiences, such as CFDA. The second portion of the class is hands-on experience. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found on the Fashion Week San Diego website.
The final portion of the evening will have a line-up of fabulous designers showing their creations on the runway. Some will be established designers, while others are emerging talent entering the field. The finale will spotlight celebrity brands, including San Diego designer Liz Russell.
On Sunday, Oct. 4, there will be a Trunk Show on the Rooftop at the Andaz San Diego from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This gives everyone a chance to meet the designers and purchase a favorite outfit directly from the collections.
