The Washington-based political-comedy troupe Capitol Steps is bringing its bipartisan humor to San Diego just in time for the midterm elections.
Their last show in San Diego in 2017 was a sellout, and their new skits build on the latest in American politics with “Pence is from Heaven,” “The Most Fabulous, Stupendous, Fantastic Military Parade,” and “Stormy Daniels.”
The 90-minute show is intended to “make American grin again,” according to producer Mike Thornton.
The Capitol Steps began in 1981 as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize their employers. They’ve performed for the last five presidents, but not yet for President Trump.
The troupe’s single San Diego show is at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the historic Spreckels Theatre downtown. Tickets start at $39 and are available online.
