The La Jolla Music Society‘s Discovery Series of concerts continues Sunday with a performance by the innovative Korean-born, New York-based musician Ji, the youngest pianist to win the New York Philharmonic’s Young Artists Competition.
Ji’s performance is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the acoustically renowned auditorium at Scripps Research Institute.
Well-known in his native country, Ji’s creative vision to make classical music accessible to young people led to his “Stop & Listen” outdoor “guerrilla” performances in 2010, during which he worked with renowned Korean pop-artist Tae Jung Kim to bring classical music to the streets of Seoul.
Ji’s program on Sunday will include works by Mendelssohn, Matthias Pintscher, J.S. Bach and the enigmatic and iconic Goldberg Variations.
Tickets are $30 and are available at 858-459-3728 or online at www.LJMS.org.
