The renowned Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla announced Monday a new name and logo as its scientific mission has expanded.
Now known as simply Scripps Research, the bi-coastal institute also replaced its molecule-shaped logo with an “infinity loop” and added the tagline “Science Changing Life.”
“We have markedly broadened our scientific mission to include more applied, cutting-edge research to transform the future of medicine,” said physician-scientist Eric Topol, executive director of Scripps’ Translational Institute, which uses genomics and digital tools to promote individualized medicine.
“Combined with the institute’s long and outstanding track record in fundamental scientific research and drug discovery, we have a number of important stories to tell,” he said.
Recent affiliations and mergers have expanded Scripps’ capabilities from basic research to drug discovery and development and early clinical trials.
Scripps, which also has a laboratory in Florida, is currently ranked the top nonprofit scientific institute in the world for its influence on innovation as well as for its high-quality research by Nature Index.
