Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor to Power Samsung’s New Galaxy S5

Qualcomm Inc. announced Tuesday that Samsung has selected the San Diego company’s Snapdragon 801 processor for it’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5.

Qualcomm Snapdragon “Qualcomm Technologies’ diverse technology portfolio enables the right processing and connectivity solutions to meet the needs of a wide range of Samsung Galaxy customers worldwide,” said Younghee Lee, executive vice president and head of mobile marketing for Samsung.

The Snapdragon 801 processor supports download speeds of up to 150Mbps,  faster camera sensors and mobile gaming. In addition, it includes hardware for service on mobile networks  in China.

The announcement was made at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona, Spain.
