POINT LOMA – An incoming senior football player at Point Loma High School has made an early commitment to a high-powered university program.
Romeo Carter will become a Bronco and play on the fabled blue turf field at Boise State University after signing a national letter with the school on June 15.
“The people there are great,” Carter said. “The city loves football, and they overpack the stadium for every game. The coaches don’t just see me as a player; they see me as a person too.
“They want to develop me as a player to the highest level, but also to develop me personally so I can become the best person when I’m older, past college.”
Carter, rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports, stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds, and is expected to play both ways for the Pointers this year. During his junior year, he had 70 catches for 1,057 yards and five touchdowns on offense and snatched three interceptions on defense.
Carter plans to major in business.
He listed SDSU, Navy, University of Pennsylvania, Yale, Northern Alabama, and Sacramento State as schools that sent him offers.
Boise State plays in the Mountain West Conference. Over 29 seasons, the team has posted a 284-87 record, going to 21 bowl games in 28 years.
