Following a victory over No. 21 ranked Creighton on the opening day of the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, San Diego State fell to unranked Oregon 78-68 Wednesday.
After a first half that was back and forth for the first 15 minutes, including multiple lead changes, Oregon took the lead with just over three minutes to go on a TJ Bamba layup and didn’t look back.
The Ducks took a 10-point lead into the break. Although the Aztecs brought it to within three points with under 11 minutes to play on a Nick Boyd jump shot, Oregon was able to keep the Aztecs from getting any closer.
Bamba led the Ducks with 22 points, while Keeshawn Barthelemy added 16 points to help keep Oregon undefeated.
BJ Davis scored 18 points on 7-13 shooting to pace SDSU as they fell to 3-2 on the young season.
The Players Era Festival isn’t over yet for the Aztecs, as they await the loser of Alabama vs. Rutgers to try and claim third place in the tournament. The third place game tips off at 4 p.m. PST Saturday on TNT.
Oregon will play the winner of the same game for first place. The title game starts at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
