San Diego State men’s basketball has revealed its non-conference schedule, with nine regular season games, to open the 2024-25 slate.
The Aztecs have four neutral-site games and five home matchups among the nine regular-season contests that precede most of the Mountain West 20-game schedule.
In addition, before the start of the regular season, San Diego State host Cal State San Marcos on Oct. 30, in an exhibition at Viejas Arena. The teams had their first meeting last year, which resulted in an 81-50 SDSU victory.
The regular season opens on Nov. 6, with the Aztecs hosting UC San Diego. SDSU leads the all-time series 14-0. As Division I opponents, San Diego State is 3-0 versus the Tritons.
The team’s lone non-Division I game will be Nov. 12 against Occidental, a renewal of a decades-long rivalry. The Aztecs hold a 26-8 advantage over Occidental, but 32 of those 34 matchups came prior to the 1954-55 season. SDSU most recently prevailed 95-57 in 2022.
The opening four-game home stand closes Nov. 18 with Gonzaga, after SDSU traveled to Spokane last year and won 84-74. SDSU holds a 3-2 lead in the all-time series, but has hosted the Bulldogs just once, in 2017, a 72-70 win.
San Diego State then heads to Las Vegas on Nov. 26 to play three contests over five days in the Players Era Festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. They will face Creighton, Oregon and Texas A&M.
San Diego State returns home for its last two non-conference home games, hosting the University of San Diego Dec. 7 and California Baptist Dec. 10.
The Aztecs and Toreros have not met since 2019 at Jenny Craig Pavilion, when SDSU prevailed 66-49. The game against California Baptist will be the first meeting between the programs.
The non-conference schedule concludes on Dec. 21 in a neutral site meeting with Cal at the San Jose Tip Off.
Mountain West play begins Dec. 4 at Fresno State, before breaking and resuming Dec. 28, when SDSU hosts Utah State.
