San Diego State capped off the season ranked in the Top 25 of both the Associated Press and Coaches polls.

The Aztecs slotted in at No. 17 in the AP poll and No. 18 in the Coaches Poll and is one of two Mountain West programs, along with Utah State, to be ranked in the final poll of the season. The Aggies ended up at No. 22/20.

This is the first time in the 75-year history of the rankings that the AP has released a Top 25 after the national championship game.

SDSU, which reached the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Tournament before falling to the eventual champion, UConn, entered the postseason ranked No. 24/25 in the AP and Coaches polls respectively.

UConn finished the season at No. 1, followed by the team the Huskies beat in Monday’s title game, Purdue, and Houston and Alabama, in a tie for third.

SDSU was ranked for 10 weeks this season, the seventh time since the start of the 2010-11 campaign that the team has appeared in a season’s polls 10 times or more.

The No. 17 ranking matches its highest spot of the season. In addition, its No. 17 ranking is the program’s highest since it ended the 2020-21 regular season at No. 16.
