Three UC San Diego players established new career highs as the Tritons rolled to an 89-69 victory over UC Davis at RIMAC Arena Friday.
The Tritons improved to 3-3 overall while earning their first win over a Big West opponent.
Playing for the first time since Dec. 4, the Aggies fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 against the Big West.
Senior Gabe Hadley scored a career-best 29 points, while senior Hugh Baxter, with 21 points, and redshirt freshman Jace Roquemore, with 12, also tallied personal bests.
The Tritons connected on a season-best 71% of their first-half shots, on the way to shooting 68% for the game.
They were sharp from beyond the arc as well, connecting on 7-of-10 shots before the break.
Baxter scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half on 6-of-8 shooting and was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
As a team, the Tritons had 13 assists in the first half, while out-rebounding the Aggies 14-10.
In the second half, the Tritons used an early 16-3 run over nearly four minutes to take a 60-36 lead with 14 minutes left to put the game out of reach.
Redshirt senior Mikey Howell dished out 10 assists for UCSD in the win. As a team, the Tritons logged 28 assists. Baxter also pulled down a personal best seven rebounds.
The Tritons and Aggies had not met since they were Division II conference foes in 2004.
UC San Diego and UC Davis meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday in a game to be broadcast on ESPN3.
