More than three dozen San Diego State University athletes received Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2018-19 school year, the conference announced this week.

To be eligible, the athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at SDSU, while maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or better and have participated in varsity competition.

Swimming and diving led the way with nine honorees. Women’s soccer, volleyball and football followed with five honorees each. In total, 39 athletes who represent 11 sports received awards.

In addition, 68 San Diego State athletes achieved Academic All-Mountain West status for the spring.
