The UC San Diego women’s basketball program announced three new additions who have signed National Letters of Intent to play in the 2019-20 season.
Incoming freshmen Hanna Beckman of Folsom, and Emerson Herrmann, of Boulder, Colo., join junior transfer Tyla Turner, who is leaving Humboldt State, at UCSD.
“I’m very excited about this class,” said Tritons head coach Heidi VanDerveer. “They bring great energy, versatility and competitiveness to a very established core of returning players.
Beckman is a 5-foot-10 guard who attended Folsom High School. Herrmann is a 6-foot-1 forward out of Monarch High School.
Turner is a 5-foot-5 guard who went to Humboldt out of San Bernardino.
UC San Diego (30-1) had one of the best seasons in program history last year. The Tritons began the season with a school-record 30-game winning streak and won both the California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament and regular-season championship.
Mikayla Williams received the CCAA Player of the Year award and was joined on the All-CCAA First Team by Joleen Yang. VanDerveer was named CCAA Coach of the Year for the fourth-straight season and earned WBCA West Region Coach of the Year honors for the second year in a row.
