The Bolts scored their first points with a minute to go in the second quarter on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Phillip Rivers to Hunter Henry.
In the third quarter, San Diego came within ten points after a field goal and a Dontrelle Inman touchdown. That’s where their scoring would stop though, and after a Carolina safety in the fourth quarter, the end score read 28-16.
Despite throwing two touchdowns, Phillip Rivers also had three interceptions. Running back Melvin Gordon left the game in the first quarter with a hip injury and didn’t return.
The Chargers head home next Sunday for a rivalry matchup with the Oakland Raiders.
The Bolts are in fourth place in their division at this point in the season, with 5 wins and 8 losses.
