Pending San Diego Chargers free agent safety Eric Weddle is one of the most recognizable players in the NFL because of his big beard, which he’s even trademarked into a brand for t-shirts and other memorabilia.
On Monday, though, Weddle shaved the beard and live-Tweeted it on Twitter for fans to share in the process.
He started out by saying that something “crazy was about to happen.

Then he began posting a series of pictures, chronicling the shaving of his beard.

Weddle and the Chargers were not able to agree to a contract extension prior to last season, and he made it clear that without the extension he would not return in 2016.
With potential job interview coming up for the safety, maybe he believed it was time for a fresh start.
